Author Guidelines
These are the instructions for authors of Review on Nuclear Energy Strategy and Policy: who may submit, how a manuscript must be prepared, what must be submitted with it, and what happens after it is submitted. Nothing on this page requires an account to read.
Who may submit
The journal does not publish a manuscript that has already appeared in another journal or is under review at another journal at the same time, a simple translation of an already published article, or a manuscript resubmitted without revision after having been rejected.
Submission and publication schedule
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Publication | Twice a year, on 30 June and 31 December. |
| Submission | Accepted at any time. There is no per-issue submission deadline, so a manuscript may be sent as soon as it is ready. |
| Acceptance deadline | A manuscript that has not been accepted 60 days before the publication date is carried over to the following issue and the author is notified. Allowing for the time review takes, it is safer to submit well before that date. |
| Next issue | Volume 4, Number 2 will be published on 31 December 2026. To appear in it, a manuscript must be accepted by 1 November 2026. |
Manuscript requirements
| Item | Limit | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Korean abstract | Up to 400 characters | Required whatever language the article is written in. Counted including spaces. |
| English abstract | Up to 200 words | Required whatever language the article is written in, and must say the same thing as the Korean abstract. |
| Keywords | Up to 5 in Korean and up to 5 in English | Placed immediately below the abstracts. The two lists need not contain the same number of terms. |
| Length | Up to 15 pages of A4 | References included. Counted with the prescribed layout applied. |
| Research Ethics and Conflict of Interest Statement | After the main text, before the references | Conflicts of interest, co-authorship by a family member or a minor, and any use of generative AI are declared here. Where there is nothing to declare, say so. |
| Notes and references | As set out in the style sheet | The style sheet is annexed to the Publication and Submission Regulations and can be downloaded from the journal archive. |
References
The arrangement of notes and reference entries themselves follows the style sheet annexed to the Publication and Submission Regulations. Worked examples can be downloaded from the journal archive.
What must be submitted
All four of the following are required. A submission is not complete until each has been provided.
| Document | Form | How it is provided |
|---|---|---|
| Manuscript | Hangul (HWP) or Word file prepared to the style sheet | Uploaded in the submission system. The final version is uploaded again once the article is accepted. |
| Research ethics undertaking | Prescribed form annexed to the Research Ethics Regulations | Downloaded, signed and uploaded, or given electronically in the submission system. |
| Copyright assignment form | Prescribed form annexed to the Publication and Submission Regulations | Signed by every author, each from their own account. A form signed by the corresponding author alone is not accepted; a request to sign is sent to each co-author by electronic mail. |
| Similarity check certificate | Certificate issued by the KCI similarity check service | The whole certificate, showing the date of the check and the similarity percentage. A screenshot is not accepted. |
Similarity check
Before submitting, run a check yourself using the similarity check service of the Korea Citation Index and submit the certificate with the manuscript. The Editorial Board also runs a check on every manuscript it receives. A manuscript whose similarity exceeds 20 per cent is not sent out for review. Quoted passages, sentences carrying a citation, the table of contents and the reference list are excluded from the calculation. Where a manuscript is not referred, the author is told why and may revise and submit again, and may ask for the assessment to be reconsidered within 15 days.
Review and decision
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Method | Single-blind. Reviewers know who the authors are; authors are never told who the reviewers are. |
| Reviewers | Two per manuscript, each holding a doctorate in the field or having an equivalent research record. |
| Time limits | A first review is returned within 20 days, a second within 10 days. A reviewer may ask once for an extension of up to 10 days. |
| Decisions | Accept, Accept with Revisions, Revise and Resubmit, Reject. |
| Notification | The decision is issued within 10 days of the last reviewer report arriving, together with the full reviewer reports with identifying information removed. |
| Divergent reviews | Where the two decisions differ by two or more grades, the Editor-in-Chief may appoint a third reviewer. Where no third reviewer is appointed, the reason is recorded on the decision form. |
| Revised manuscript | Submitted within 14 days of the decision, with a written response to each point raised. |
| Appeal | Within 15 days of the decision, decided within 30 days. The person who made the original decision takes no part, and the deadline for revisions does not run while the appeal is pending. |
Where an Editorial Board member is an author, that member is excluded from every stage of the review of the manuscript. A person from the same institution as an author, or who has worked or published jointly with an author within the past three years, is not considered as a reviewer. The full policy is on the Policies page.
What must be disclosed
| What | When | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Conflict of interest | Research funding, advisory or consultancy roles, or any other interest that could bear on how the results are read. | Declared on submission and in the Research Ethics and Conflict of Interest Statement. Where there is nothing, say there is nothing. |
| Co-authorship by a family member or a minor | A minor or a family member is among the co-authors. | Declared on submission, with what each person contributed. The Editorial Board verifies the contribution. |
| Use of generative AI | A generative AI or AI-based tool was used in preparing the manuscript. | The tool and its version, the provider, when it was used and what for, stated in the Research Ethics and Conflict of Interest Statement. AI cannot be listed as an author. |
Where the research was funded, the article must state the fact of that funding. A declaration that is false, or deliberately omitted, is treated as research misconduct.
